My amazing aunty Carole is doing the great north run

Hi all not sure how many of you know but at Xmas time 2010 my Aunty Carole was seriously ill whilst holidaying in the lakes. After a very long period of being in hospital in the lakes and stuck in intensive care with too many touch and go moments she was transferred closer to a hospital closer to home. Now only a few months after she was told she could recuperate at home she is taking on the great north run in aid of the british lung foundation. Here's what my mum Jan (her sister has to say)

"My amazing sister, who was at deaths door at Xmas, is running in The Great North Run this month. She is running to raise money for The British Lung Foundation, I suppose after undergoing two lung operations herself this figures!

Beavis the parrot has his say

After so many requests about the antics of the animals and requests for Beavis the parrot to have his own Facebook page I have decided to see how he gets on with updating our blog as a starting point. It's hard work for a bird with only a few claws and a dodgy foot to use the keyboard and he is so easily distracted. So follow us here on the blog for Beavis updates. Gibside farmers market here we come

Don’t forget that we are at Gibside National Trust property this weekend. You will find us there on Saturday from 10-4 come rain or shine (I’ll be the one doing a sun dance – but I promise no singing!!) It is free entry to an amazing local food and craft farmers market with lots of tasty goodies and of course our scented candles along with other items.

Desperate call out for Ash who needs a new home

This is ash whose owners health is deteriorating and his owners are in a position where they are now unable to look after him. He is about 6 or 7 although we are not sure as they rescued him as a stray and have had him about 4-5 years.

He is really friendly and great with older kids and people but not so good with other dogs as he has never lived with them. He is neutered and vaccinated although I am not sure if his injections are fully upto date. He is neutered and fully housetrained and happy to be left on his own for a few hours. He loves to chase his ball in the garden and likes nothing better than a game of tug of war with his hoop!

His owners are desperate to find him a loving home, they will be devastated to see him go as they really love him but there really is no other option.

Mum and kits dumped in allotment on hottest day

We have a mum and her kits now safely in our care after being found in a cardboard box with no access to food and water. The mum was hungry and thirsty when she arrived but apart from that she has done a great job of looking after her family. She will be ready for a home in a couple of weeks with one of her babies and deserves a place to call her own where she can be pampered and spoilt. The babies will also be looking for homes in pairs. We just hope that mum finds a suitable home and doesn't get over looked

10 week albino looks like she has a home

Well it looks like the little albino female baby has a home with another ferret who was lonely after his cage mate sadly passed away. We will keep you all informed about her progress and move into her new home.

Easter fair Alington House Durham

Ferret needs a new home or foster home

Little polecat coloured ferret looking for a new place to call home. Likes to walk but can be playful. This little guy was lost in heaton area of Newcastle.
